People With Interesting Backgrounds (2)

This is the second picture from our role, "People with Interesting Backgrounds." I took this picture on my friend's lake, and I like the reflection of the sunlight in the water.

People With Interesting Backgrounds (1)

This is from my digital roll, "People With Interesting Backgrounds." I took this picture in Sweet Frog, a frozen yogurt place. My brother and Dad are both getting yogurt, and the pattern of the tiles leads your eye across the picture.

Elements of Art- Lines

In this picture, I used the lines created by the horizontal blinds as the focal point. By not only coloring the wooden cords, I also added a pink tint to the sunlight shining in. I like the contrast in colors as well in this photo.

Elements of Art- Shapes

This is my second picture in the Elements of Art roll. With the task of finding shapes, I used my fire place screen. Not only is used for its shapes, but also a frame for my little brother Lucas.

Elements of Art- Texture

This is one of my favorite pictures from our roll, Elements of Art. The subject was texture, and I thought the flowers next to my barn were perfect. Originally a black and white picture, I used the colored paint bucket on photoshop to add different shades of magenta to the flowers and dark barn windows.

Solarization

This is an old picture, coming from my roll of leading lines. However, we used another method of developing to create a solarization effect. One of the steps was keeping the print in the developer tank, but bringing it under the enlarger to create  flash of light for the solarization. I look forward to solarizing future prints as well.

Vintage

Adding on additional tasks after the normal developing process, we soaked out prints further in another substance. Creating a sepia tone, I printed a wooden, German smoker doll. With his feet hanging off the edge, the rustic look of the "Kaffee" maker it is holding adds to the picture.

High Contrast

Given the task of pictures with high contrast, I was set out to look at the world in black and white. I had played around with different angles and colors, however I decided to use the element of light in this print. I shined a flashlight on one side of the reflexive, glass perfume bottles.

Hands and Feet

Being a kid at heart, I used my playground from my childhood to take a picture of the monkey bars. With the hands of my brother Nico, this picture can be an illusion to some. Unlike the subject of my print many see this as a worm's-eye view, looking up a ladder. However my creating a short depth of field it turns out the grasped bars are monkey bars.

Depth of Field

My "Depth of Field" print incorporated three of my most favorite things. For one thing, the subject is my new puppy Indigo. Being only 5 month old she is bigger than a golden retriever and always finding out new things. With her new obsession for horses, I took a picture of her ears cocked up listening to Saber. The horse shown is one of the many grazing in my pasture in my front yard. She happens to be the horse that is ridden out on the UVA football field by my neighbor, Kim. Showing my love for dogs, horses, and UVA, this picture is one of my favorites.

Fun With Shutter Speed

My little brother Christian is the star in my prints yet again. With his love for the sport of football I took this picture in motion. He even got it as a Christmas present, mounted and all. :)

Leading Lines

Leading Lines was one of my favorites. I had my brother scooter down a crack in the road. I though this added some extra creativity, including the shadow from my brother. Ever since then I have been compelled to work with shadows, using certain times of days to add different effects in.

Framing

After thinking a lot about different angles for framing, I went to my playground to find some shots. I was the ladder and immediately stuck my lens through the steps. This picture went well with my other framing one, two of my little brothers holding hands. With the two empty swings this print means more to me then just  piece of photo paper.

Architecture

This picture was one of my first at-home assignments. We were tasked with the goal to take film of architecture, and I picked my home sweet home. This is the view looking up from the left side of my house, using the shadow from the sun and the contour lines of the chimney to add effect.
